Description
Parvovirus B19 (Parvovirus B19):
Parvovirus B19 is characterized by high resistance to environmental factors and detergents.
The virus attacks the receptors on red blood cells, specifically by binding to the antigen, blood group P.
Parvovirus infection (fifth disease, infectious erythema) is found worldwide, especially in spring, creating localized epidemics, especially in kindergartens, schools, within families and in hospitals.
Infection can cause erythema of the extremities and arthritis in adults.
Parvovirus multiplies in erythroblasts and thus causes temporary anemia.
The infection can lead to complications in immunocompromised people as well as death.
