Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) - a method of molecular biology that allows the increase of small concentrations of certain fragments of nucleic acid (DNA) in biological material to thousands or millions of copies.

The PCR method allows detection of DNA/RNA fragments of infectious agents from various materials - blood, urine, saliva, cerebrospinal fluid, synovial fluid, biopsies of various organs, etc. in humans.

High specificity of the PCR method is due to the fact that the material under study contains a unique DNA fragment characteristic only for a given pathogen.

In the lab. ArminLabs GmbH PCR can test blood for the following pathogens:

  • Borrelia Burgdorferi
  • Anaplasma/Ehrlichia
  • Bartonella
  • Babesia
  • Rickettsia
  • Varicella zoster virus
  • Herpes virus type 6
  • Herpes virus type 8
